The Galvin Food & Wine Dinners are back
We are delighted to bring you details of two Food and Wine dinners which will be held in September. The first is on Monday 5th September and will be held at La Chapelle our Michelin-starred restaurant in Spitalfields. A celebration of the Burgundy wine region, Jeff Galvin and Alessandro Piombino invite you to join them for a seven course dinner with matched wines in the company of Burgundy wine expert Jason Haynes and La Chapelle's award winning sommelier Andrea Briccarello.

This tutored tasting will take place at 7pm in the private dining area, The Gallery and booking is essential for this exclusive event, as numbers are limited to 15 guests. Tickets are priced at £120.00 per person and a deposit of £40.00 per person will be requested at the time of booking. On Monday 26th September Luigi Vespero, head chef at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe invites you to join him for a Five-course dinner and coffee with matched wines to herald in the start of the game season. His "Let the Game Begin" menu will be served in Le Bar at the Bistrot at 7pm. To view the menu and wines click here. Tickets are priced at £70.00 per person and booking is essential. Luigi also plans to host a further dinner in January to say goodbye to the game for another year so do sign up on the night if you are interested to receive details of this future event.

Chris and Jeff's new cookbook
The much anticipated cook book from Chris and Jeff will be in the shops from the end of September and features 120 recipes as well as stories from our two hugely-popular Michelin-starred chef patron'sTo give you a little taster, here is one we prepared earlier. Dorset Crab Lasagne is one of our most popular signature dishes, served at both La Chapelle and Bistrot de Luxe. It is perfect for warm summer days and will really impress family and friends.
Lasagne of Dorset Crab (serves 4)
Crab Mousse
5 Large scallops, coral removed
100ml double cream
Pinch cayenne / Pinch salt
1 large cock crab, cooked (picked white meat only)

Lasagne
Fresh lasagne sheets
Chive Beurre Blanc
5 chopped shallots
100ml white wine
100ml white wine vinegar
2 sprigs thyme
100ml chicken stock
50ml cream
150g diced, cold butter
Method

Firstly place a layer of lasagne on the bottom, then crab mousse, then lasagne, crab mousse again and a final layer of lasagne. Steam for 8 mins. In the meantime make the chive beurre blanc.

Put chopped shallots, white wine, white wine vinegar and the thyme into a pan and reduce by about half. Once reduced add 100ml chicken stock, reduce again by half. Add 50ml double cream and reduce by half. Then whisk in 150g diced, cold butter. Remove the sprig of thyme and finish with chopped chives.

Put scallops into a food processor and blitz them to a fine paste Add the pinch of salt and cayenne pepper and double cream When mixed, fold in the crab.

Cook the fresh lasagne according to instructions. Once cooked cut into 5cm diameter circles (3 per serving).

Live Music at Café àVin
Every Monday, Friday and Saturday evening from 6pm to 10pm we welcome our resident pianist Paul Eldridge to Café à Vin where he plays his mix of mellow Jazz classics and popular standards, as well as taking requests. The Café also has a popular prix fixe 2 course menu at £14.95 and was recently awarded a Bib Gourmand in the 2011 Michelin Red Guide. Surely worth a visit! Book Online
Family Friendly Sunday Lunch
Enjoy a relaxed and informal lunch with the family at Galvin La Chapelle and Café à Vin every Sunday. Our Sunday Roast is available in both restaurants as well as a special children's menu at £9.50 per person. A toy table includes a wide selection of classic family board games as well as our popular chair stacking game – providing the opportunity for some healthy competition, with the current record standing at 16 chairs or the opportunity to look slightly bonkers with our Guess Who I am game.
