Sunday 4th April 2010 James Forster
James Forster is currently studying for a master's degree in jazz guitar at The Royal Academy of Music. He is about to commence his final year where he will be studying with Phil Robson and John Parricelli. He is an experienced musician, having played all over the UK and Europe with various ensembles. Highlights have included playing at the Glastonbury festival and last years' Bordeaux wine festival.
Initially turned onto playing the guitar at the age of fifteen by the music of Eric Clapton, James was soon being influenced by jazz guitarists such as Mike Walker and Jim Hall, as well as the music of Chet Baker and Keith Jarrett. His varying musical tastes mean that he is just as at home playing the blues of Muddy Waters as engaging in the gentle interplay of this duo setting with partner Fulvio Buccafusco. http://www.myspace.com/jamesforsterguitar
Fulvio Buccafusco
Born in Palermo, Italy, Fulvio’s undoubted talent was inspired by the music of his two older brothers, a guitarist and pianist. Teaching himself piano, electric bass and jazz standards, at fourteen he began attending courses and workshops that led him to play in clubs and festivals around his home in Sicily. After several years he fell in love with the double bass and moved to Copenhagen via Rome, to study with the famous bass player Niels Henning Oersted Pedersen.
After a year he returned to Italy to and formed the band Madrugada and recorded "Face a Face". In 2001 he moved to Groningen in the Netherlands to study at the North Netherlands Conservatoire, and in 2005 completed his Bachelor of Music before moving to London where he is attending a Master of Art in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music.
During 2006, the record label Spasc(h) published his first cd "Zagara e Sale" obtaining excellent reviews in the Italian jazz media. Having performed with numerous respected musicians from around the world, including; Conrad Herwig, Brian Lynch, Ralph Peterson, David Berkman and Craig Handy, Fulvio is now an integral part of Nicola’s performing band as well as continuing his own compositions and solo/quartet projects.
