The Perfect Wine on Tap

There are many ways of transporting and serving wine, the most common being wine in bottles. They have the advantage of portability, ease of opening and of course familiarity – all of which are fantastic when you intend to open a bottle and serve it within a short amount of time. Once you start to think about serving by the glass then parameters change and keeping fine wine in the best condition is difficult with bottles.

At Galvin HOP we wanted to serve a perfect glass of wine every time so Andrea Briccarello, head wine buyer for the Galvin Group, decided on an innovative high-tech keg system. With this system the wine is transported in and served from sealed kegs holding the same as 27 bottles which has a number of great advantages: there’s no chance of cork taint or the wine becoming oxidised if you just serve one glass and the wine continues to mature in the keg as it would in the barrel meaning a more refined experience.

It also saves greenhouse gasses in the production and transportation of heavy glass bottles, allows Galvin to work with boutique wineries to have our own cuvees made and, in a very pleasing result for the customer, we can offer a taste of any of the wines on tap so there’s no pressure to buy anything other than the perfect glass of wine for you.

In this video he talks you through how he can serve the perfect wine:
